Digital Assets

Why digital assets are the secret to increasing ROI

3 minute read

Have you ever thought about how building up a bank of digital assets for your business could be the secret to ROI?

In layman’s terms, digital assets are things of value that are in place in order for your digital team to be able to deliver a strategy successfully.

Today I’m sharing why you should view digital assets as an investment opportunity.

The types of digital assets

The five types of digital assets are:

  • Insight assets
  • Brand assets
  • Content assets
  • Website assets
  • Data Assets

We’re often asked what kind of digital assets will contribute to a successful marketing strategy.

With that approach, you’re falling at the first hurdle.

Instead, you need to view digital assets as the foundations of a building.

As you build your digital assets, acknowledge that the full range of digital assets are key contributors to the success of a digital marketing strategy.

Investment

Assets add value to your business, and will pay dividends in the long term.

Digital assets add value in three ways:

  1. Multiplier effects
With great digital assets in place, you reduce set-up costs and increase the likeliness that campaigns will run successfully
  2. Bottom-line effects
This also allows for the business to be more interesting and valuable to potential investors and buyers, if you’re developing your own systems, insights, branding and content
  3. Knock-on effects
It has many positive knock-on effects for the training and development of your staff, as well as allowing for all research, data insights, and overall knowledge of the brand centralised within your business. It also means that productivity and reduced friction will occur

See it as having a ‘bank’ of digital assets that your business can refer to. Without them, your results have the potential to struggle.

I hope you found this perspective useful, and I encourage you to acknowledge and develop digital assets of your own.
